MCMASTER FALLS 8-1 TO BROCK


Wednesday night the McMaster Marauders hosted the Brock Badgers on Alumni Field for their first meeting of the 2013 season. McMaster won the opening draw but wouldn’t score until just over 5 minutes into the first when Mark Phillips found the back of the net. Phillips would be the only Marauder to score through out the contest. McMaster would hold Brock to just two goals within the first to end the quarter down by 1.

The Badgers would see goals from a variety of players including Kyle Davis who would put in three. Through out the second the Badgers put in three to bring their lead to four points. They would score twice in the third and just once more through out the fourth to end the game 8-1.


This weekend the Marauders will be on the road on Friday and Sunday as they take on Laurier before their rematch against the Badgers. Their next home game will take place on October 11th against Toronto.

MCMASTER HOSTS BROCK TO START 2ND HALF OF SEASON

McMaster is back at home Wednesday as they host the Brock Badgers to kick off the second half of the season. The Marauders last game was in Guelph just over a week ago when they fell to a 14-9 loss. The loss gave them a 2-4 record to end the first half of the season. Carter Williams led with four points and is currently leading the team with a total of 12 (9+3).

As for Brock they moved to first in the OUA West after their win over the Western Mustangs this past weekend. Travis Arch led the Badgers with 4 points, followed close behind by Gage Board who totalled three points after a goal and two helpers. Brock’s Brandon Slade had a two point performance against western with a goal and single assist, is currently in third in the OUA and 2nd in the west for points with a total of 14 goals and 13 assists for 27 points.

Brock and McMaster have yet to meet up this season, but will play two games this week with their second one in St. Catharine’s on Sunday. The Marauders lost both games last season; 10-9 at home and 13-3 on the road.  McMaster’s last win over the Badgers in regular season was back in 2009, However; they beat Brock 10-9 in 2010 in playoffs when they would go on to win the Championship.
