Nationals 5-2 After Loss In New York


The Hamilton Nationals headed to the Big Apple for last nights match up against the Lizards. Both the Nationals and Lizards were looking for a win to turn things around after last weeks tough match ups against the Outlaws for Hamilton and the Bayhawks for New York.
The Lizards drew first blood with two early goals before Kevin Crowley found the back of the net to get the Nationals on the board. Crowley continues his game point streak extending it to 22 games. Cody Jamieson and Kevin Cunningham would both put one in before the Lizards could put their third of the quarter in. The end of the first the Nationals led by 1.
The Lizards, shutting out the Nationals with a five-goal streak, dominated the second quarter. Going into the half the Lizards led by four.
Mike Poppleton came out early in the second half, winning the draw and finishing just 10 seconds into the third. Kevin Crowley put two more in to take his hat trick. New York wasn’t done, and answered the goals to end the quarter still leading by four.
Hamilton started their come back in the fourth with Stephen Keogh who put in two. Crowley found the back of the net with just over two minutes left in the game for his fifth of the night. Rob Pannell of the New York Lizards answered back with a goal to bring the lead to two points and lock in the win for the Lizards.
Unlike their last meet up that happened in Hamilton on May 11th the Nationals weren’t able to come through with just four seconds left.
The Nationals continue are still on the road but will end it next week in Florida when they face off with the Rochester Rattlers in Boca, Raton. They will be back at home at Mcmaster on June 29th to meet up with the Chesapeake Bayhawks for the second time this season.
